A wonderfully painted mid century oil painting of a French townscape, executed in oil. Depicting a quiet town situated in the hills, the work has been executed in a semi-abstract manner through the use of visible and painterly multi-directional brushstrokes.

There is a haunting beauty and a sense of melancholy in this painting. Mainly brought forth from the black tones that contrast strongly against the bold earthy shades.

This oil on canvas is in excellent vintage condition. It is housed in a wood frame with a linen lining that has seen a loss to the bottom left corner (as shown clearly in the photos).
