Large Vintage French Market Scene Oil Painting by Felix Tiso 1909-1979

A busy scene of a fruit and vegetable market, a true banquet of vibrant colour. This scene is entitled'Les Oliviers'.

The local womenfolk can be seen arriving early in the day so they can get the finest produce. Canopies are in place to provide shade from the French summer sun. This work is executed on a large sheet of hardboard, the painting on the reverse side, adding body and texture to the scene. Tiso was well known for his architectural scenes and busy street scenes, always using bright and varied colour which really lifts the spirit.

A wonderful memory of La Belle France. Signed lower right, presented within a decorative gilt wood frame with gold coloured slim velvet mount.
